If your plugs are rusty change them. Unless their fouled I personally think changing a plug every 5K is a waste of money. I usually pull mine to inspect them and check the gap every 3-4K. My current plugs have 15k and look fine. I also use the copper anti-sieze
I got new plugs and was wondering if it will make the bike feel/sound a little different? I bought the bike used a couple months ago and just got the plugs changed, I rode it home for about 10 min and it just felt a little different and sounded a little different. The old plugs looked pretty old and the gaping was off slightly.
If there's rust squirt a little penetrating oil in there (PB blaster) and let it sit for a few minutes......better safe then sorry. Don't want to drill a broken spark plug out if the head.

If your old plugs were not delivering a proper spark due to impropper gap, carbon etc.. installing new plugs could make a big difference.

I never remove plugs on a hot engine and always torque by hand. Insure the treads are very clean and reinstall with a light coat of anti-sieze. I also like to use a light coat of dielectric grease inside the plug wire boot
