Default Sportster 48 air cleaner kits

Looking into an air cleaner for my 2012 sportster 48. I have been looking at the DK customs 587, S&S stealth, and Kuryakyn Mach 2. Any thoughts or recommendations? How about the Kuryakyn hypercharger?

I have a DK Customs air cleaner and have to say that the fit and finish is superb. I recommend them, can't speak for the others.

Yea, I think they have a great company and I have a few of their products on my bike. I wonder how the performance compares to the others?

There are only a few companies making true performance intakes anymore.

DK Custom
NRHS
Hammer

I don't know of any others.

Pushing blow-by back into the air cleaner is counter productive to performance. What comes out of the breathers is primarily exhaust and oil.

It is also hot. Engines perform better with cool dry air and gas...not hot oily air and gas.

Additionally the exhaust gas has a lower oxygen content, displacing oxygen on each combustion stroke. Another performance robber.

Oil will build up carbon deposits on the pistons, leading to pinging/tuning problems down the road.

It's just a bad idea...the only upside is you make the EPA happy.

Here is a Dyno Chart of our 587 Air Cleaner:

I have a 587 on my Dyna, was my first time wrenching on my own bike, also ordered the Premium Discrete Breather. Went together very easily, great fit and finish.

What is the difference between the 587 and the 425?

I apologize for the delay in response. I have been out of the office for a few days.

The 587 is 5.875" in diameter and the 425 is 4.25" in Diameter. They both flow more air than even a Stage IV Sportster can use. The 587 has more cover choices than the 425 does.
