I have a 1996 Sportster 883 and I was looking to get upgraded headlights on it, but I don't quite know what to get.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I saw that there are H4 kits, but I don't know if that requires extra wiring and whatnot. Could I just put HID bulbs in and have that work?
You can't just put an hid bulb in without putting in the ballast as well. Not sure if the daymaker from harley will work with your bike but that's an option, it's expensive but i hear is great.

Yeah it's a crap-load of money that I don't want to spend.
Yep, that's a direct plug & play Halogen bulb. But it's very much like your original bulb. The best you can expect from it would be a marginal improvement, if any. Truly significant lighting improvements unfortunately come at cost.

I don't know man 9 bucks aint a hell of a lot of dough to roll the dice. I have heard it can be surprisingly better doing that bulb you found but until I see it for myself I'm not qualified to say. I too was looking to improve my headlight and the HD unit way too much scratch for the amount of night riding I do. I'm going to do a forum search on that bulb you found and see what I can find.
