well i love my bike, been through alot (99 sporty hugger) so i want to keep this bike. engines getting tired, wanted to do an S&S replica vintage, probably their pan, possibly the shovel or knuck though. i want that old school look, with out shortcuts, with hardcore power in a bike that i have come to love.
im prepared to go hardtail if need be, also thought maybe instead do one of those softail conversions. figured while im chopping frame id make adjustments to fit the new motor. but its impossible to find dimensions for the panhead and idk anyone who has one
I don't believe it's possible to put a big twin in a Sportster frame....I mean, you can hack it to pieces and probably eventually get it in there, but it'll be a piece of junk and won't even remotely resemble the bike that you've "been through so much with".
Just rebuild the Sportster engine and do a big bore on it and you'll have a much better motorcycle.
There's just really no point in doing it....As was said before, That's why they built the Superglide.
Well the best way to achieve all your goals is an S&S sporty motor. It only takes a little frame modding. You will need to put a little clearance in the top tube for the rear rocker cover to clear. Lots of information on this on the web and in other forums.
