My 2012 XLC just went in at my indy, both injectors were replaced by new ones, as my rear cylinder didn't function at all, after days/weeks of puffing/coughing/sputtering.
Now, after two weeks of troubleless riding, there goes my rear injector south again...
I'm thinking seriously, more and more, to get rid of this bike. Anyway, I'll move to another indy, mine is completely incompetent in managing injection systems...
It seems the failure may be the fuel pump not producing enough pressure, or even the fuses having bad contacts or the negative battery ground which isn't tight enough.
Funny enough, no engine light lighting up, everything OK then, I Guess?
My other bike has points and carbs, never have had any problem while that bike is 42 years old...
New plugs put in. Problem remains.
Fired the engine with rear plug pulled out: good spark. Check'd.
Pulled out each fuse and the two tiny relays, flushed everything with wd40, alarm going on loud'n'clear. Problem remains.
What are the next options? Dismounting the fuel pump and replace the filter ?
I also Check'd the charging system, which is good, twelve and a half engine stopped, fourteen volts engine running at idle...
I would be checking the wiring to the rear injector, while the bike is running start wiggling wires and see if you can make it mess up,,, something may be intermittent there, also pull the plug for the IAC (? the plug on the intake body) and blow it out real good, grease it with hi-di grease and put it back together do the same for the main controller....really strange it has not thrown any codes, have you looked for historic codes...low fuel pressure does not make sense to me as it would make it miss on both cylinders ....check the ground for the injectors wherever that is (it will tell you in the wiring schematic...that's all I got...
I've had three EFI Harleys and no problems with any of them. It sounds to me that you are not getting a proper diagnosis of the actual problem and if your indy ain't up to doing that then visit your local dealer. And stop calling your bike a POS if you genuinely want help!
The strangest thing being I noticed the rear plug being wet when I removed it, which means there is gas arriving into the cylindre. Thinking now if the trouble couldn't be a mechanical one, being one of the valves not functioning properly...
