It was a rough experience, but I think I really learned a lot through the process. Ive only been riding for a few months now and I had heard a lot of rumors about how certain things in the rain can cause major issues and lead you to laying the bike down. I learned that a lot of the things people warn you about are some times taken a little out of proportion.
I feel like the experience taught me more in that 100 mile trip, than the last 1500 miles of riding combined.
