Default Leasons Learned

I made the 100 mile trip to Atlanta yesterday to watch the Falcons beat the Saints. It was a great ride on the way up. Crusied at around 75 the whole way and loved it. However, I also learned several lessons on the ride back.

Lesson 1: If there is a chance of rain, bring rain gear with you. I saw a small chance of rain on the ride back. I figured a few showers never hurt anyone. I saw something brewing off in the distance and had a chance to stop by the Newnan HD but decided against it due to what I had seen on the radar. I topped the next hill about 5 miles later and the Heavens opened up. It was rough. The ride home took a few hours more than expected.

Lesson 2: Buy Rain Gear. See leason 1.

All in all, my night sucked pretty bad, but I made it home in one piece and kept the bike up so I will consider it a win for the day. I may have to look into cleaning out my bell. There were some pretty hairy situations that I felt lucky to avoid while out there. I had people riding up to me and taking pictures while they laughed. Once that started happening, I felt like there was really nothing else I could do but laugh as well.

Good thing you got home safe. Something similar happened to me last year I just finished pumping gas and about 2 minutes after leaving the gas station it started pouring. It sucked big time, but just like you I had to just laugh about the whole situation.

Glad you made it back safe. Was a good game, and glad the birds won.

I usually second guessed myself if rain was 20% chance or greater. Especially here in Houston, that **** is so random.... it will rain while it's sunny out.

To me, riding in rain was never worth the discomfort and dangers.

North of I10 in Houston means 0 chance of rain in the summer. Lately NW Harris County has had daily down pours at 3pm. None today though.

Back in the 60's, when I just had smallish naked metrics, I just figured I'd have some miserable hours on trips across states - and I did. Today's rain gear spoils us. Not complaining about it, either. No more stopping at the first coin laundry after the rain to throw the clothes in a dryer. Was a good idea to carry a spare pair of jeans to change into first, too...
