Default Ignition switch problem?

Ive got a 2005 883c and my bikes backfiring and shutting off. Yes ibe searched the foums but havent seen my exact problem. I left my house not even a minute away bike backfires shuts off and i lost all power. I sat for 30 mins for my trailer whole time no power with key on. Towed it home turned the key and it fired up. Checked all connections and fuses im all good my fob was with my key and my switch was very loose so i kno that didnt help. Should i just replace the switch or am i missing something.

Those switches do go bad. I replaced the one on my 04 about 2 years ago for the same reason.

I replaced my ignition last year. While going down the road, the bike would shut off, and then turn back on, twice it wouldn't turn on, until my friend with a tow trailer shows up, and it starts right up.
