Default Throw over saddle bags

Alright....I did it....I bought a cheap pair of saddle bags for my little scoot. How is the best way to secure them? Do you have a pic of your scoot with bags? I gotta have some ideas so that it won't be too unsafe or tear my bike up.

I took off my seat,I laid thethe leather yoke part inbetween the bags over the fender, bolted the seat back on then tied the bags to the shock top and the rear turn signal.

I'd like to have some throwevers also..because I have a solo seat I've though about purchasing a Mustang Fender Bib to keep them from rubbing the rear fender paint.

The wear on the painted fender would be the one thing that would cause me heartburn. Take care of that and they can be kool.

The 1200 4 speed the OL used to have had bag supports, heavy wire loops that bolt to the fender. Throwover bags usually have straps or rawhide strings to tie them to the bag supports.

The concern for rubbing on the fender is real. I have gone to the corrigated rubber shelf liners used for tool boxes that cushion and keep parts from sliding. Cut a piece where the bags will rest on the fender and you should be good to go.

I'm like bigtop1 and use the shelf liner stuff under mine. My tourmaster slants have straps with quick release buckles that I just loop around the frame behind the batt./oil tank covers then around the signal mounts and they work out fine resting against the shocks (they also have a padded neoprene backing).

You can also use a thin mouse pad on the fender.

You can sort of see how I have them tied to the rear signals in one of my profile pics. I only secure the rear of the bag and it has worked so far. This year I am going to put a piece of felt between the fender and the yoke to keep it from rubbing the paint off.

Someone on Ebay sells standoff for the 04 and newer that only bolt to the shock so in a couple minutes you could zip them on or off. Protection hen you need it. Remove when you know you wont be using the bags for a while. Third choice, realize how important those bags have become and eventually break down and buy HD bags and just leave them on.
