Thank God, H-D has the 100-year-old goose that lays 45-degree V-Twin golden eggs. The design of the S and Nightster look like 9th grade shop class compared to a FTR, Monster, or MT09. A Rebel may even look better.
Its the future, get used to it. For those feigning disgust, well, there is still the freedom to not buy it it will sell. I am not so sure I am willing to keep waiting on a road bike with this new motor. The air cooled V-twin is obsolete going forward. Sure there will always be plenty of them around, much like old shovels are, but enjoy the evolution of the next chapter in motorcycles particularly Harley Davidson. Ride On!
You know what's the funny story about the old air-cooled motor bike....
That HD sells engine rights to the Chinese (Shineray) and they come up with it Euro 5 compliant and with 60/80hp at the crank versus the 67 of the old motor. https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocia...uropean-market
That is not to enter the ploy with BMW, Ducati, and Moto Guzzi that still have air-cooled engines, with the Italians being both sub 1000cc units.

Not to mention BSA, Norton and Royal Enfield fielding stylish, affordable, air-cooled as well.
The liquid-cooled rev max cruisers (I refuse to call them Sportsters even if HD does) are a direct response to Indian Scout (a late response IMHO).
but theres a lot of homework to be done with those bikes specially when it comes to fit and finish and the overall left side of the engine.
I acknowledge that Im not the target audience for these bikes.
as for the Shineray Sportster .. I dont think that HD has sold the rights to them but simply they copied because the copyright has probably expired (as it did with other engines)
