10K service
Hi All
my bike is due it’s 10K service. I have booked it in for April 11th the same day as the Recall parts are being fitted. I asked how much the 10K service would be and was told £488 English pounds.
just wondered what was involved with the 10k service?

Mostly inspections of things that most people can do themselves.
I do my own service- except for stuff that needs to be hooked up to the computer for (eg. ABS service).
They'll probably change your sparkplugs and give you an oil change too.

Did you buy the bike new and how old is it?
Shop around because if it's less than a year old and you are the new owner you have HOG membership that should give you a discount. £488 seems pretty steep to me. Call Sycamore HD, Uppingham or the dealer in Newmarket and ask for their price.

it is 23 reg it had its first MOT yesterday. I was up at New market HD last Tuesday ( but didn’t give the service a thought ) 🤣
Up by where I work is the Bike Barn they do special builds ( lots of show winners ) lots of HD.
they have a full workshop facilities plus MOTs I will ask them for a price.

I will try other dealers for a price I know I have already booked it in. But I can soon cancel it.

Just an update.
i am still taking my bike to the Harley Dealers to have the Recall work done this Saturday.
but up by where I work there is a custom Harley bike builders. They have a full workshop and only work on Harley’s
i called in after work today and asked how much a 10k service would be on my Sportster S £360 so that’s is £128 cheaper so that is where I will have my service done

I took my bike into the dealership to have the recall work done. All done now👍
but they could not test ride it as the front tyre was worn to much for them to be insured to test ride it.
now I knew it was getting down, as you probably know the front tyre can wear a little strangely on these bikes ?
but mine was not to bad I asked for a price for a new tyre £350 fitted which I thought was a bit steep ?
just wondered what tyres you guys were running ? As mine still has the Harley Davidson Dunlop tyres on dual compound ( hard in the middle and softer on the outside )
I would be interested if there was an Alternative that works as well ?
oh and while they were doing the work. I took advantage of the free vend drinks machine. And ended up looking at the clothes on the sale Rail and bought a couple of tee shirts and 2 summer riding jackets with Armour 🤣🤣

Take your bike to the other independant shop you mentioned in your earlier posts for the new tire fitted- im sure it will be less expensive.
The dealer here marks up their tires 100% of purchase price! 100 %! (Or double what it costs them, if that sounds better)
I know because they had a new guy working in the service dept. when i got my new tire for my 92. He quoted me the price- i said that was really reasonable- then the manager came over and yelled at him " dont show the customer the cost books! Sorry sir- the price is this...." ,and it was exactly double the cost.
