The Dark SideFor those members running "Car Tires" on their scoots. This is for their discussion only and not a place for "non dark siders" to mouth off about their negative opinions of this idea!
I put some mile on the Hankook 426 and not really impressed. The tire sticks on the road great but seems squirrelly at higher speeds. I started at 40 and it felt ok but not great. I then dropped to 30 and and went up 2 lbs to try a better feel. Im now at 44 lbs and tire max says 44 so I stopped there. Before putting on the ct 110 the bike felt ok and now 90 and it want to think about doing its own thing. Im now on a trip with a trailer and didnt really want to put to much air in and wear the center out.
Huh? What?
I can do 100 plus on my new bike with zero issues. Had the the 2011 RGU up to 110 and it was perfectly smooth and straight.
Could be a defective tire (maybe bad belts). I had one once on a car (almost felt like a flat or very low air press), had to replace the tire with another of the same make and model and then everything was fine.
They are other thing that could cause your systems also, but you need someone a little more mechanically inclined than me for them.....
Well I put 50 in the rear 426 and that seemed to help. Watch the wear and probably try something different for the next tire. Im going to be needing a front tire soon and undecided if I should run a 150 rear on the front or put an original front back on. I have been getting 20 thousand out of a front but they are cupped pretty bad. Im running a 2010 limited.

I put a Yokohama Avid 195-60-16 on the bike a couple weeks ago.
I'm still undecided on the darkside as far as handling goes, it's not really bad but it's not great either, Kinda like, when your bike tire is 3/4 worn out and you wish it would just be finished so you can put a new motorcycle tire on and get that great handling again.
However, I will admit that the Yokohama is quiet and smooth. I've only had the bike up to about 85 mph and it was still very good going in a straight line.
Well in excess of 100mph on my Hankook many times with no issues. There’s something else going on there.
When shopping for a Car tire for the RGU sidecar rig I was against Hankook . A new car i purchased had them on it and they sucked . Took them off the first two months. When I ended up going with the 426 for my rig Had my doubts. It has worked very well for my needs.
Now I need to find something that will work for the 130/80R17 front

I’d think it’s radical enough to go to the dark side, yet then to run a Korean tire. Other than cost, I’d think you’d be better off with a Yokohama or Michelin.

Avon makes a Trike Specific front tire. It is designed for a front tire that doesn’t lean, and has a flatter profile and much thicker center. But, it only come is 16” diameter for TriGlides, and 18” diameter for Goldwings. A lot of good info on this tire in the Trike sub- forum. Maybe you could’ve ldv0ut on a 17” front tire to run it.

There seems to be nothing even close in a 17 inch. I have searched an compared . Even looking now for a 16 inch that with the right tire come out to the same height no luck so far. Keep in mind My ride is a bit different this is a sidecar Rig so som eof the concerns that a two wheeled bike might have are not an issue. I am no fan of Michelin tires. Run copper on all our cars.
For the bike rear the AVID Ascen was first on my list but would have gotten here to late need it ready to go. No one in a 100 miles had one in stock.
