The Dark SideFor those members running "Car Tires" on their scoots. This is for their discussion only and not a place for "non dark siders" to mouth off about their negative opinions of this idea!

I don't know of any 08 fatboys that have gone to the darkside. If you can find a car tire that is close to 200/55/17, you can judge by how much space there is between the belt and tire of the stock tire. That will give you an idea of how much wider you can go.

I ride an 07 fat boy withe the same size rear tire. Went dark this year with a Falken Zeis 612+ in 205/50/17. No fitment issues at all and no modifications needed. Have about 12k miles on it now and LOVE it. Still plenty of tread left too!
has anyone had any issues with the front tyre being scrubbed out due to the CT on the back, just curious about the handling side of things
Running a CT does not cause ant type of scrubbing. Handling will be somewhat different, but not a huge deal. It takes more effort at very slow speeds. After a while you will no longer realize it is there. That is until you need to do an emergency stop or ride in the rain. A CT is far superior for both of those. Also they give a more comfortable (cushier) ride, my wife loves it.
I went with the General G-Max 205/50/17. It fits with no issues at all. Rides great. It is a little different in the way it rides but not a bad difference. If it last more than 6500 miles it will be worth it.
I have an 09 Fatboy and have only been able to get about 7500 out of the Dunlop. Much less on others. I will try the car tire next time I need a tire. Thanks for the info
I put the same tire on as 08 Fatty. I like how it rides and handles. Only thing is my lane to the house is dirt and it really grips it. Took some time to get use to that because the motorcycle tire would slip some. I took some heat last week at the Harley shop when I carried my bike in to get fixed after hitting a deer last week and they could not give me one good reason not to run one. Everything they said I had a good response for.
