You can look up different maps in Demo mode, watch though because I'm not sure if what you see is 100% correct, especially the saved stock map while in demo mode.

Hooked up to your bike, looking up maps in live mode only finds maps for your VIN number (I think, a while since I plugged mine in)

When you install the Fp3 onto the bike, it uploads your stock tune and reads the VIN number. It then give you a library of canned tunes to choose from that is based on VIN number/engine size, tire size etc.

Decat and Fp3, my history over past 2 months:
I purchased a 2011 RK FLHR last month with 2800 miles. I rode it for a week and my take:
It was a stock bike except for RC Components slip ons with 2.5" baffles. The bike ran well and low end torque was the best I have felt on a TC. The exhaust had a good mellow tone. Let the mods begin:

I decatted the header using the window method on the bike
The exhaust lost the mellow note and slightly louder
The heat at my right foot gone
The low end torque was gone and gained a slight decel pop
I installed an Fp3 tuner and loaded canned map(V&H power duals and monster rounds with standard baffle and one decel firecracker
Bike ran great, decel pop, lean surge gone. Good pull in all gears, still no low end torque
Installed V&H Vo2 naked air gleaner and utilized external breathers
Not much change, still no low end torque. Bike runs well.
I had a pair of DK Custom TTI's from a prior TC tune. On a whim, yesterday before a 300 mile local ride, I drilled out my slip ons and installed the TTI's. Low end torque came back 100% and exhaust tone mellowed. Road 2 up all day, in the mountains, bike ran perfect and MPG only dropped 1 mpg after all the mods. A note on the TTI's, they were a total fail on my Heritage staggered exhaust and a total success on the RK.
It took a step by step approach, but i could'nt be more satisfied.

It's a funny beast. All of the other discussion around flash tuners seems to stress that auto tuning is necessary to make sure the canned map, which are only reckoned to be close, should be tuned in for your specific bike.

Changing bits to fit the canned map sounded like the wrong way around if you see what I mean.

But you're right, if it ain't broke ...don't fix it. I still think there is a dirty big lump of smoke, mirrors, and black art in all of this

Gordon61 and Splatt: I am going to run the auto tune for a tank or 2 of fuel later this summer when it cools off a little. It may be more accurate then the canned map. I ride at different altitudes on a regular basis and want to "play with it'. I can always go back to the canned map I am utilizing now. V&H also updates firmware and additional canned maps on a regular basis and they may have an exact match in the future. It runs so well right now I'm not going to mess with it. My recent post was to clarify what took place with a stock head pipe after decat. There are many posts that I read talking about cross talk, decel pop, sound and heat after decat. Some posts were accurate and some I did not duplicate. The slip ons actually sounded better before decatt and my low end torque loss was substantial. I will give credit to the TTI's for correcting both.

When you run an auto tune, forget about that two tanks nonsense ...watch the hits screen on the App and it will tell you how you are doing. The other thing that really helps is putting some masking tape on your throttle and mark out the throttle positions so you can see what to hit.

They update firmware about 3 times a year and add new bikes as they are released ...they do not seem to fix the old maps, at least the 2014 ProPipe is the same from when the FP3 first came out.

Good to hear your build is working well ...not that a tuning device helps with the exhaust sound mind you
