Ok so I have rhinehart extreme duals, screaming eagle pro tuner and I had the screamin eagle heavy breather. I just switched my heavy breather to a performance machine super gas air cleaner, so I could put lowers with speakers on. Now I'm getting what I think is excessive heat ( could from airflow decreasing from lowers, and not having mid frame heat shields, which I just put on but haven't ridden with them to see if it helped) it also stutters just a little bit at idle but not continues. So my question is do I need to change the map or ?. Thanks in advanced
You should be fine with the map you have. The heat is most likely related to the installation of the lowers. You failed to say which tuner you're running, so run a few self tuning applications and see if that helps.

I've got the screamin eagle pro tuner, I just rode it for about 20 minutes with the heat shields installed and it's still burning my calf like a mother f*cker lol. It amazes me that it's this hot lol. I may have to pull the lowers off cause it's actually so hot my wife won't even ride anymore. One ride and she was burning so bad she said I'm done, and she loves riding as much as I do.
A couple facts:
* These bikes come from the factory lean and hot running.
* The Super Tuner calibrations are also lean and hot.
* If you do not run the HD exhaust the engine will most likely run even leaner and hotter due to freeflowing exhaust.
The absolute best way is to have your bike recalibrated (tuned) by an experienced qualified tuner.

You can run some auto-tune sessions (HD calls it smart-tune) with the SEPPST and that should adjust the AFR and get the bike to cool down. Also jettison the lowers until fall gets here.
Be sure you want to invest the time and $ to buy and learn all about EFI and tuning before starting the process.
Then learn how tuning software procedures are followed that are required for a successful tuning session.
This takes a dedicated learning effort on the part of someone who has no EFI and/or tuning experience.
I probably tuned more 20 bikes in the beginning (1996) before I started understanding what and when things happen so I could figure when and how to make calibration changes that would provide the results I expected.
IME there is no substitute for a quality tune by a qualified, experienced tuning expert. Someone who has paid his dues over the years learning the ideosycracies and techniques needed to understand in order to get the most (throttle response, smoothness, mileage, and decel backfiring control from a given bike and it mods.

To answer the OP, yes, it needs to be retuned. The ECM can handle some changed but your beyond it's ability now IMHO. Some will say it can handle exhaust and breather changes. I disagree. As said, they are lean to begin with.
Now how you retune it is up to you. You can use what you have and street tune it and get it close but as said, read up and understand the system and be ready to put the time and effort in. Most likely will be ok tune. However, a expert can get it closer, quicker, safely. Your choice.
