Once again some friends and I are riding to Key West on Christmas Day.
We leave at 7am from Broward County (SW10th St but to be confirmed nearer the time), aiming to be in KW about 11.30, lunch somewhere on Duval, turn around and head home. Usually back around 6.30 at the Broward/PBC line.
Anybody is welcome to join me, if you have nothing better to do on Christmas or want to avoid family
That will be a great ride, I did it on my Road King in March and thoroughly enjoyed it. I went on a Saturday and traffic was BAD mid-day, you should be in better shape. I used to take the convertible down for a day trip with the wife before we had kids, always had lunch at Jimmy Buffets, I love the burgers.
I love to stop at Alabama Jacks for some conch fritters, though they will likely be closed on Christmas. I like the quieter ride of Card Sound Road vs US 1 as well.
Have a great ride Lauren and post up some pics so we can ride along with you! I have a video of me riding across the 7 mile bridge...but it's pretty boring. lol
I'd be up for a ride another day if the FL Crew can get one set up. I've been wanting to check out Lucky Cole's for a while now but didn't want to take the long ride alone.
I had a drunk photo bomber at 8 am when I took this pic...
It does sound like a great ride, but I can't do it on Christmas day. Enjoy & Ride Safe.
btw, Lucky Cole's is only open on weekends, but not all weekends. I was there Saturday; he now suggests calling ahead to make sure he's "open to the public" - he's tightening up access a bit. He has a cool place and if you don't mind getting the bike a bit dusty, continue past his place to where the pavement ends to get even closer to nature and up-close looks at gators. Don't make a sound like a poodle.
I'm actually not really well enough to do KW and back this year. It sucks because I've done that ride the past couple years but I don't have the stamina yet for a long ride. I had to go back in to the hospital last week and get 3 more stents.
I"m getting there and will go for a short ride Christmas morning.
Lauren I hope the new year brings you great health. The good news is I've seen many friends with similar issues do very well after some similar treatment and some modest changes.
I'm afraid that I'll not be able to make this run, so please accept TD's appologies. I'm sure that some of you will understand my position!
Oil also take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy Xmas and a drunken New Year!
