Heading to Crabby Bills on Indian Rocks Beach for my fix tonight.
Used to have a Guy bring gallon ziplock bags of them to me weekly but he dropped off the face of the earth a couple years ago.
Back in the day, my brother and I would go to Boca Grande Pass and fish off the bridge. First we would set up a tent on the side of the road near the bridge and never had any problems with any one screwing with us. I would not do that now even if the law would let us.

Small world ain't it.!!! My brothers neighbors' parents owned a place on Gasparilla Island and we would go down for weekends and fish the old railroad bridge and goof off all weekend, those were the days!!! I'm sure you guys heard all the stories about "Hitler", the hammerhead shark.......
Wow Pat! I wonder if we ever ran in to each other.
Remember the old Matlacha bridge? I am talking about the wooden one in the 60s. Then they built the concrete one (the one that is used as a barrier reef now) and left part of the wooden one for a fisherman. The giant drum caught off of that thing amazed me. My grandparents had access to a cabin near the bridge. We would spend the week ends fishing off part of the wooden bridge. It brings back some memories. My cousins, my brother and I were walking on the bridge in the middle of the night and one of my cousins stepped on a catfish that had been thrown up on the bridge. The dorsal fin went all the way through his foot and he was standing there shaking his foot to get the fish off. Heck no we did not go to the doctor and mess up a good fishing trip. My grandpa just went to the station the next morning and bought some kerosene and poured on it. My grandpa said that he was going to have to pour some on one of us to catch him. LOL
Sorry I have messed up the getting stoned thread. But I like the stone crabs too.
