Default Finally settling in... sort of.

Relocated from a NYC suburb to glorious North Port about three weeks ago.

Man, moving sucks. However all our stuff is here, unpacked and almost in order in the house. However (and it’s a big however). My bikes still haven’t been delivered by “haulbikes.com”. They were picked up in NY on June 18 and were supposed to be delivered on July 9. July 7 came and no update (They are supposed to contact me 48 hrs before delivery) so I reached out. I got a reply that my bikes were still in their PA depot and would not be delivered on the 9th as originally estimated. I was pissed, but what can I do, it was an estimate. A few days later I got an update that they would be delivered the week of the 13th (next week). Ok, I can live with that, assuming it happens.

Bitching about my bikes aside, I’m happily adjusting to a completely alien lifestyle to that I had my entire adult life. People are friendlier, the pace is slower and my God, no more liberal NY BS. I gotta say, I love it. It’s hot as ****, but you know what, NY has something called “Hazy, hot and humid’. The only difference is 1) no haze, and 2) it’s every day for three months. Honestly, a small price to pay for the remaining 9 months. I’m good with it. Plus I have a pool. Which we’ve been in every day for hours.

And I have a garage. A f’n miserable roasting oven midday, but tolerable before noon and after 6pm. I have An A Plus bike lift arriving in the next few days, got a cheap-o husky tool chest and a crapload of shelves. Finally a place to comfortably (sort of) work on my bikes.

I have a 10k BTU window venting portable AC that works ok when blowing directly on me, but has no chance to cool the entire garage. None. Maybe I’ll look for a bigger unit. Maybe not though. Got a lot of other stuff to get.

Anyway, really happy. Already enhanced my gun safe with the readily available fun stuff that Florida allows which NY forbade. Just need to find a good place to “make use” of my newly acquired stuff.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to Florida! Try not to think of or mention that place you came from. I live near Daytona, on the other coast from you. Never know when we might cross paths. I see you have already been invited to the
Florida Crew Rally in Palatka. It is a couple days of getting to know Crew members, riding, and telling lies. There is a section on here with details how to reserve a room. I have missed the last two (I think it was two),
and am hoping to make the next one.
But again, welcome Mchad...

Thanks. I don’t feel quite settled in yet. Haulbikes.com still have both my bikes. Originally were supposed to be delivered on the 9th, but that’s now delayed until the 19-23rd. Clearly not happy about that, considering we had a car shipped down in 4 days pickup to delivery. My bikes will be a month.

It’s funny how unsettled I feel not having a bike to ride... But once they arrive, the fun will begin.

Welcome from Fort Myers.
Your bikes will probably show just in time for the rains to start again.

Yeah no ****. It’s been great weather since we arrived. Of course I’ll get screwed lol.

At least we’ve got a pool to float in.

I hesitate to mention this, but I've used HaulBikes in the past, and it was one excuse and delay after another. They picked up the bike in Kentucky in May. It was supposed to be in Utah in three weeks. I finally got it in September. Hopefully, your experience will be better than mine. You might start demanding some compensation if they keep delaying, and see if that helps speed things up. Good luck.

Got the bikes on Monday. No 24 hour notice. Driver called me at 620pm and said he was 18 miles away. Offered to wait till the morning or I could get them then. Of course I got them then. Both batteries were dead of course. Dyna had enough to turn over twice before dying. Road king was flat. Got them started with my booster pack and was home. They put a small gouge on my left saddlebag, so I’ll have to file a claim for repair/replacement. Dyna was perfect thankfully.

I’ll not use them again. Not happy with the delays, lack of communication and of course, the damage.

Oh well. At least I got my bikes.
