That time of year, the further south the better, I usually go to the Miami area beaches (if not the Keys) in the winter time and I'm near Ft. Myers. Plenty of nice warm places near Ft. Myers and south towards Naples and with great beaches. The Gulf will have cooler water than the Atlantic, too (today for example, 80°F Miami Atlantic, 69°F Daytona Beach Atlantic and 74°F Ft. Myers Beach to Naples on the Gulf, 69°F near Tampa on the Gulf).

Anywhere around St Pete Beach will suit you fine. Around Christmas, will be cooler for sure, just have a look at yearly past temps. I just sold my timeshares there, and even in February can be cool. Beaches are really nice there for sure for walking and playing. Great restaurants etc.
We're heading down to Ft Myers this year for a change of venue in March, so can't comment on that area, good luck in your search. And beware of Craigslist rental postings !
