Sunrise HD was sponsering a ride to Key Largo today. At the last minute I figured I would go on the ride with my better half. The ride sponser was collecting 1.00 per person for Card Sound Road toll so we could pay up front and roll thru. As I went up to pay my buck she was instructing people to go fill out and sign the waiver. I gave her my buck and she said "You're not going to sign the waiver are you?". I replied "Ahhh... no." She replied "Oh, that's OK." Took my dollar and moved along. So I guess Florida Crew has an SP exemption now.
yea can you see us have waiver forms every ride we do?
There were about 40 bikes in the ride. The destination was only about 100 miles. We stopped (for I don't know why) after 45 miles for a break in a parking lot for about 15 miutes. I was getting antsy just wanting to ride, but only standing around. Finally we are getting ready to leave, and they are talking about having another (originally) unplanned stop in 35 more miles. So I mentioned to my wife "This is a step up from a HOG ride, but a far cry from a Florida Crew ride.". She said she was thinking the same thing. When the group turned right into the next pit stop, I said to my wife "we are out of here" and headed onto Card Sound Road alone. To me it's not about the destination(s), its about the ride.
I think the ride would be great for beginners, and those that do not ride much.. but not for the way we ride. Krome Ave really sucked with slow traffic. I think had I been carrying I would have blown my brains out.

Sounds to me like they'd have to plan an overnighter, in order to do a FL Crew 300 mile burger run.

Sounds like you were riding with the wrong bunch. But if you signed up to ride with a group....you could have hung-in there? Similar thing happened to me during the Ocala Meet. On a ride, a group of us pulled into a watering hole. I got a beer, Barbara went to the bathroom. Before I had half a beer gone and before Barbara got out of the bathroom...
everyone but me was leaving (because a hundred other bikes were coming and it was going to be crowded). I felt slighted. Sick puppy, to his credit stayed behind while I chugged my beer. But all the same, if a group arrives together, it should leave together..
OR AT LEAST GIVE A TEN MINUTE WARNING?.
Makes me wary to ride with 'a group' again...as sofla can attest.

At the start, I did not want to be too commited so I said up front "Should you see me pull over, or turn off, don't worry about us. We still have not decided what we are going to do.". The group plan was once we made it to Key Largo everyone was on their own, incluidng coming back. So I took off about 20 miles early.
That ride you are mentioning... wasn't that when we went to Crystal River? Same thing happened to us, but we were a few seconds ahead of you. Kerri was in the restroom and I was stuck in the middle of all the bikes. I thought everyone was going to take off before she made it out, and I had no idea where we were going.... but it all worked out.
Hah! good story SoFla, thanks for sharing with us how the "other" bikers get it on out there <rolls eyes> Funny thing because we trained you to be hardcore right at the begining of the saddle. Glad to see you've come so far! I bet you'll have more miles than my total over the last 10 years soon! Considering the HD has been down more than the suzuki (never) has in th last year
