This morning I went to PepBoys to buy some oil for the bike. Figured it was supposed to rain, might as well do something constructive and change the fluids.
I get there right after the store opened, so the parking lot was still bare. As I am putting my purchaces in the saddle bags I see this mini van driving at a high rate of speed (for a parking lot). There are two empty spaces to the right of my bike, and 3 to the left. But I just know this clown is going to come skidding into the spot right next to me. Sure enough I see him turning into the spot to my right... I'm hoping he can turn in time as he is still going a bit to fast. As he is turning into the spot, he is looking out his driver's side window at my bike, and not where he is going. He slams right in to the concrete curbing that you park your tires up against. Not wearing a seatbelt, he hits the curbing so hard he jerks forward and smashes his head on the windshield. I laughed so hard I nearly choked. He sat in his van until I rode off..... he was lucky he didn't knock himself out.
Should have "helped" him to the ground for coming that close to you and the bike. People need to be more respectful. Today I came up on a family riding horseback alongside the road. The father looked back at me and you could see it in his eyes that he was worried that my bike would spook one of the horses with his kids on it. I pulled in the clutch and let the speed bleed out and idled past on the far side of the road. He gave me a head nod and a wave. You think we could get that kind of respect?
