I have heard people complain about the speed of HDF saying that the forum loads slow. I have had an occasional problem with a page hanging but for the most part things load quite fast. What are your experiences? Maybe I just have a really good ping to their hub or something.
Every now and then I get slow load times, but nothing regularly or even enough to complain about.
Some days the internet itself is real slow, every site I go to takes forever to load. The speed of the forum loading can vary depending on when the browser's cookies and cache were last cleaned, and the internet connection of the person, which can also fluctuate.
Yes, it is... slow that is. Sometimes it's much worse than others. I ain't complaining, heck how can ya? FREE!!!
I'm deff not one of those computer savey fellers... don't even have one of those fancy phones with the camera and textin'!!
I've had it explained that it's all the adds loadin' up er such...
I guess I am a lucky one. My desktop, located in the NOC, has a 1.0 Gig connection to our 10 Gig network backbone going directly to the Internet on ramp so no speed issues for me.
Hell, I have to wear a seat belt.
BTW: I do know of a couple poor souls that still connect with a 56K modem.
Not having any problems either. Occasionally a page may slow-down because of the ad-server trying to dish something up. But keeping it FREE is good!
I don't know, are there really folks out there on dial-up modems still? Hee hee hee (gosh I hope not).
And decent broadband connection will give you this forum pretty quick (which is my general perception most days, most times).
+1 - It's definitely the ad-server slowing things down, along with pages that are loaded with hi-res pics.
Firefox w/AdBlock Plus is much faster than IE.
I am the same cHarley! Every once in a while a page will load slow, but most of the time it is fast. Unless of course I am in IE, then it is slow all the time. Google Chrome and Firefox I have no problems.
