The only info we have, is that it came from a custom motorcycle shop and is HD. I don't know if any of that is true but I was hoping to use your knowledge to try and determine make. Thank guys.<br>

Are you 100% sure it was made by H-D? If so, I'd bet something from the 1930s-50s, but cut in 1/2 by a custom maker. I don't think H-D ever had twin tanks.

Holly crap you must be young, or just joking. Its a Fat Bob tank off of a harley, probably FLH. Can't tell for sure by the pic but probably a 3 1/2 Gal set. I gaurantee its stock Harley.

Harleys FLH's have had split tanks since 1936 to around 1984. Softail til 1999 ( or so.)

So, we can safely assume it is HD. But would you guys have any clue how to figure out a year?
And I appreciate the help!

you folks are making me feel old.. that is a shovelhead flh fuel tank.the early tanks had mounts for a shifter, and a rod through for the fuel valve and were 3.5 gallon, later pans still used the weird valve, and were 3.5 gallon..shovel didnt have any of the other stuff, just a current fuel valve on the bottom, and were 5 gallon.the 3.5 tanks, the side drops rite off next to the filler, the 5 gallon tanks are more bubble shaped. all twins and flatheads had split tanks till about 80. after the fatbob tank, evo's used flat side split tanks, still pretty similar looking, but mounted different and rubber mounted
