the trip sounds good to me.i guess we would leave early on a sun.and the same on wed.coming back.will 2days be enough of riding around maggy valley and deals gap?we stayed at deals gap resort last year during the week .it was'nt bad.
We did this trip back in October and had a blast, turned out to be 1800 miles in the 4 days. Be on the road early and we were doing 300 mile days in the twisties . We left Franklin,Tenn. in the rain around 6:30am and got back in the Tampa area around 7:00 that night. Rain probably cost us an hour or so. I think the N.Ga.roads were my favorite..

I did this trip too the week of Thanksgiving. Just a bit cooler then but beautiful. I also loved the North Georgia roads, leaves were in full Fall colors still. But.....I have to admit that Thanksgiving week was not the "safest" time to travel through the country roads. The deer were "very active" and made me quite nervous and a little jumpy. Had two deer attempt to sprint between me and a minivan on top of the mountain between Gatlinburg and Cheerokee. The van was only 30 feet in front of me.
On the trip back, could smell the fresh gunpowder everywhere through North Georgia and saw several deer on the side of the road waiting to jump.
I should know by Monday if my time off is approved for Apr 28 - May 3rd.
Once I have that confirmation, I will get serious about making a plan!
I'm already excited about the possibilities!
Hoping you get the approval Scott, I'm excited to do it again. My brother just bought a new FLHR last month( his first bike) and I'm trying to get him to join us....

Chuck the mensh
He's been riding mine so he'll be just fine, but I will have him in front of me with the GoPro rolling!!! I just want to see how he handles a 600 mile day
My job has really good benefits, one of which is 3 months of paid leave if your wife has a baby. Turns out, a guy I work with is expecting a child on or about April 15th, and as soon as it arrives he is taking that 3 months off. Since there are only 3 of us who do the job, the other 2 of us will not be able to take any time off during those 3 months unless we get a temporary replacement from another banking center....so right now my request is denied.
I encourage everyone interested to go ahead and ride, if you can. If, by chance, I get the time off I will go....if not, I will try again later in the year!
Sorry to hear your time off got denied. Damn babies I've got a week off in October(13th-20th)and had originally planned to go back to the hills then.Even if we go in April, I'd still be up for going back in Oct, temps had started cooling down when we were there last year. Ttyl..
