Tom, Katie's husband, updated with this last night. "Okay Just back from Lee Memorial where Katie remains in ICU. Toughest woman I know. Her injuries include a broken vertebrae in her neck, a broken wrist on her left arm, broken jaw and 2 fractures in her pelvis. No head injuries as she was wearing her DOT helmet. She is sedated and on pain medication and resting. She had surgery this evening on her wrist. Next they will repair her jaw and after that her pelvis. No visitors allowed outside of family until the surgeries are done and she's out of intensive care. We deeply appreciate every ones prayers and well wishes. Katie really didn't deserve this because she is such a giving person. We were putsing along on a back country road coming back from breakfast on Sunday when a fella on a large 4 wheeler came out of an orange grove and crossed the road without looking and hit my wife. It's going to be a lengthy recovery but Katie will eventually heal up and be just fine. One thing I just can't understand is what she said to her oldest son when he came to see her. She said now I'm finally going to be able to get a new bike. You gotta be kidding me!"
