Pittsburgh Party Thread
As far as Parker goes, the reason he dances around in the backfield is because he's too small to pound it up into the line like the Bus did. He needs to pick his spots. If you watch, if the hole is there when he receives the handoff he hits it pretty hard. If it's not, he needs to pick and choose, kind of like Barry Sanders did, but on a much lesser level.
Faneca. His performance two seasons back may have been a bit down. He said publicly that he would not return to the Steelers since during the previous offseason they did not extend his contract. I can see why he would have a bit of a let down since he didn't want to be there. Either way, he was still our best lineman.
One thing the Steelers do better than any other team is let Pro-Bowl caliber players leave at, or a little before their careers start heading downward. Levon Kirkland, Greg Lloyd, Kevin Greene, Carnell Lake to name a few. If you remember they were about to send the Bus packing until he agreed to take less cash and stay with the team. Pittsburgh believes in having a younger team, building through the draft, not free agency. Once a player turns 30 they better start looking for other options.
I agree with you guys in the fact that Ben was rushed after the motorcycle accident and the appendectomy. Also remember the concussion he suffered and played the following week against the Raiders. Bad loss for the Steelers and Ben played horribly. Cowher did have a problem with not sitting the QB when injured.
Pittsburgh Steelers 6 Time Super Bowl Champions! Damn that sounds good.
you in thinking we'll be okay but on the other hand I want to disagree because IMO our
OL is our weakest link. NOW, I've been saying for the last few years how bad our OL is,
BUT how bad could it be, we just won the Super Bowl? Then again, we use to be able to
run the ball and now we couldn't even muster 60 yards against the 16th rank defense
vs the run. That's misleading, I know, because they played much better than that in the
playoffs. I still think they have to do something about the OL. I'd like to see them look
at a few during FA and use at least 3 of their 7 rounds to address the issue (if they pick
someone up in FA then they'd only need 2 of the 7 rounds to address during the draft).

After SB XL I bought two of these (5X Super Bowl Champions) ball caps, one for me and one for the wife. Basically, I ended up with two ballcaps. I know she prefers the visors. Has anyone seen a visor that looks anywhere close to this? Or know of anyplace where I could get one custom made to resemble this?

I do agree the Steelers will take and offensive lineman in the first round of the upcoming draft. Probably multiple players at that position overall. I could also see a corner back taken somewhere along the line as well. Especially if they lose McFadden to free agency.

Those are pics showing how far out he is, now watch the replay, sorry it's crappy youtube, but you'll see how long he's out of bounds and that he wasn't forced out, if you are looking for it:

I was so focused on the ball crossing the plane when he was tackled, and the primary view point, watching live from above, doesn't show where Fitzgerald's feet are most of the time, and there's so much action toward the end of an unbelievable play, that it was overlooked that Fitzgerald was not forced out, but clearly ran down the sidelines out of bounds, passing other action on the field, in order to get caught up w/ the runner.
Man, if they had not made the TD call on that play, and it affected the outcome at the end, the ref's and Fitzgerald would/should take a lot of heat. I'm glad it got called the right way, and Harrison was able to squeak across the plane, despite Fitzgerald's attempt to catch up using the sidelines.
