does anyone know how to start a charity ride and how it all works?
I'd like to start one and I have no idea how to do it.
Would appreciate any help and or suggestions. It is to help benefit research a neurological disease that is not well known but many people are suffering from "Arnold Chiari Malformation".
My suggestion would be to contact them directly. Perhaps there have been other benefit rides and they can direct you to a specific person. There is quite a lot involved in putting together a ride. We do one with our Chapter for the MDA every year and we start a year in advance. Planning the route, getting the County(s) Sheriff Departments as you will need to have them for traffic control and it it the law here in Minnesota. In order to block Traffic.
There is a lot of information on the internet about setting up charity rides and events.. I will say this, if you have never done this before, try to get help from someone who has organized or helped organize some kind of charity event. There is a lot of info and work involved, from proper insurance waivers , to free advertisement, corporate sponsorship, the proper safe routes needed, checkpoints and checkpoint communication, the starting and ending locations and events (like raffles, 50/50 drawings, music/entertainment, food, ect).
If you have a well organized event with interesting rides routes and fun events , people will get the word out and if an annual event ..and it will increase your charity $$$.
