I'm English,please enlighten me.
What is a "redneck"
I figure a redneck is someone like the Ernest Borgnine character in Smokey and the Bandit or the George Kennedy character in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot or maybe even Roscoe P Coltrane?
Am I miles off ?
Do rednecks drink beer/bourbon and stare rudely at pretty girls?
Ride Harleys, drive Jeeps, pick fancy guitars and go fishing when they should be at work ?
You see where I'm heading here?
Who is a famous redneck? is it an insult or a term of respect?
Help me out people.
Jeff Foxworthy thanks for that.
First English redneck? well ...I don't have a sister or a hound but I do have a few chickens peckin' around the orchard. Maybe you're right.
discovered mr foxworthy a good few years ago. l'il sis who lives in ga sends me cd's and books. does playing my "pull my finger" cd loud on the streetglide while on a ride out with the club make me a redneck?
at one time it might have been taken as an insult.could be meant as a dumb rural white person.mostly today its used more in a jokingly manner...usually amongst fellow rednecks.as a general rule rednecks are hard working, god fearing, family oriented people never looking for a hand out but always standing on their own feet.usually not a big fan of the goverment and loving freedom.he would never think of living in a house without multiple loaded guns and a dog.when you live in the country...living at times by your own rules,on your own time...when you go into a large city you stand out sometime.you ever see crockadile dundee..well that is sort of an australian version of a redneck.------you might also want to check out a comedian named jerry clowers.material might be a little dated...and a little more backwoods than jeff foxworthy but alot of it is very funny.at least to me.hope i helped a bit,and yeah i am somewhere in between a redneck and a hillbilly i suppose.
I always thought a redneck was a hard workin' white guy who hunts, goes fishin', has junk cars parked in the yard, drives an old beater pick-up with a gun rack in the back window, drinks a lot of beer, is more than likley a bit of a racist, and keeps a crispy clean haircut all the time causing the trademark 'red neck'.
Much to my surprise, I have been refered to as one, even tho my hair does not allow much sun to hit the ol' back o' the neck.
What's that got to do with, 'Serial posters posing as welcomers'?
