I realized a long time ago that I don't give a $hit what anybody thinks of me. That was especially true when I was in the Navy. Now, I have a job that pays well and some neat toys. If anybody thinks they're better than me, they can kiss my a$$. So what? Do you care what I think of you? Maybe.. If you do, you'd probably rather not know..
That's what I'm talking about.....do your own thing.
Does the far south end of a booming city of 2100 count as urban....I can see last years corn stalks out the front door and my bike is not paid for....Whats that make me?
You are a SCRUB....Sells Corn Rides Unpaid Bike....but you keep on keepin on!!
I'm probably a RUB, don't know and don't care. I'm sure I don't look the part, but that's mainly due to skateboarding and other similar sports. Being educated and making money is actually a good thing on my little planet - though I do hate the idea of the suburbs.
Anyway, I have read so many threads about the categorization of bikers and I think it's totally amusing, if a little weak. Whoever said, "screw it, let's ride" ... I'm with him.
When a guy gets to the point where he has been riding long enough that he no longer follows any fad, and goes with what works for him, and is content and happy with that.....that, bro's, is really what it's all about....and when you reach that point, that is when you TRULY become a biker.
It's not about the destination, or how many miles you ride. It's that you ride.....any ride, regardless of distance/destination is a beautiful thing, and every ride is different....no 2 rides are ever the same....close, but each one is different.
In short, just do what feels "right", and enjoy life and your scooter.
seriously, who Gives a rats ***. are you really worried where you fit in? Sounds like my 14 year old daughter. If you really are, did you buy a bike for status, or to ride?
I wish I was a RUB but I'm more like a CLUB, Comfortable Living Urban Biker but then again, I live in the middle of the woods, almost redneck country so the U is gone, this isn't urban so all the analogies won't work for me except, CLCB, Comfortable Living Country Biker

My philosophy it there ain't nobody better than I am, & I ain't better than anybody else! I don't care how much money you got or who you think you are. Treat me right & I'll treat you right.
It's more than a monetary thing....it's a lifestyle. RUB's are typically seen as people with alot of money....people trying to buy their way into the lifestyle. Don't worry.....as technology etc. is changing, so are the bikers. Bikers used to be guys that rode $4,000 bikes, and it was their only transportation. Now it's 20-30K bikes that are only ridden on the weekend. The old biker is practically an endangered species. M/C's used to rule, becaseu there were so few bikers, that they banded together. Nowadays, bikes are everywhere, and the pace of the 21st century has made it so that a guy dosn't have the time, etc. to devote to an M/C.
P.S. "Stupid" or newbie questions will get you thrown into the RUB label, so either look the other way, grow a thick skin, or find another hobby.
As for me, I do what I want, when I want. That means I am an anti-social, and a dysfunctional veteran~so leave me the f@%& alone!
Also means "friends" are hard to come by, and I could never live under an M/C with someone making the decisions for me.
LONE WOLF FOR LIFE!
