It's more than a monetary thing....it's a lifestyle. RUB's are typically seen as people with alot of money....people trying to buy their way into the lifestyle. ~Joe
Well I'm a RUB by any criteria and I can assure you that I have no interest in "buying my way into the lifestyle".
I have no interest in looking like a gay pirate or wearing a black HD shirt everywhere or having a HD belt buckle the size of a Buick or wrapping my head in a rag or attaching my wallet to my belt with a logging chain or becoming so paranoid that I'm convinced that my life is constantly in danger and I must always be armed or coming to these forms to ask about the "rules of conduct" for a "real biker" or....
I ride when I want to, I hate riding in the rain and my bike is clean just like my cars and my body.
EDIT TO ADD - Geez, I just realized I'll never qualify as a poser!

That is a nice color combo on your King!! Sharp looking!
Does the far south end of a booming city of 2100 count as urban....I can see last years corn stalks out the front door and my bike is not paid for....Whats that make me?
Isn't that the truth. Maybe 3,000 here, so the urban doesn't fit. I am decidedly middle class, so "rich" doesn't fit. I just don't have a label.
MCRB, perhaps? Middle Class Rural Biker. Just don't have a pronunciation yet.
It's more than a monetary thing....it's a lifestyle. Bikers used to be guys that rode $4,000 bikes, and it was their only transportation. Now it's 20-30K bikes that are only ridden on the weekend.
Fifteen Grand and Fifteen Hundred miles don't make you a Biker!
The old biker is practically an endangered species. M/C's used to rule, because there were so few bikers, that they banded together.
Bikers are a rare breed, Harley riders are a dime a dozen!
Sorry, just seemed like the right time to get out the old stickers ......
Might as well add, "Silly yuppie, trailers are for boats"
When the journey means much more to you than the destination, and it dosn't make a difference to you what bike your riding as long as it is a bike, then you can be called a true enthusiast. But I could live being called a rub. Hell, I wouldn't mind it at all if I were one.
I am guilty of going into the political section and calling people rubs and the only reason i do this is because they are really qiuck to attack me for anything i post or comment on so i look at thier stats and the amount of time they have been a member in the forum and a majority of these cats have less then a year and almost 2000 posts i would almost bet that some of them have more posts then thier bikes have miles, but for the most partI dont really give a rats behind,I just go ride my bikes like have since i was 7 years old,and just for the record both my sons ride and i taught them at an early age to,and to me this qualifyies me as a true biker because i am always ready to help introduce people to the joy of biking!!

Sometimes I wish I was the "R" part of RUB, but I'd rather be content and happy than rich and miserable. Now, I'm sure there are those who are rich and are really happy, I could deal with that, but my experience tells me it's mostly the rich and miserable. Kinda sounds like a new soap, doesn't it?
