Chaps?
I admit, they are a PITA to wear. But, sure nice when you need them.
I wear leather's the kind with the *** in them. So in the unlikely event (knock on wood) that I came off the bike I would have that extra protection.
Plus I think they look gay. haha.
I don't wear them for crash injury prevention. All I got is hope for the best in that catagory. All that extra safety gear takes the fun out of riding. To much hassle putting stuff on before and after rides. Chaps are very easy to quickly put on and off and store in saddlebag.
Yeah I know I'm a rebel. In that pic I'm not wearing the leather pants either. At least I have my helmet on, part of that trip we were going au-natural, helmetless. haha.
We did a big tour last summer 5000 miles if memory serves me. Down from Calgary, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, SD (sturgis) and on home. So along that trip we hit every kind of weather, from cooking heat in LV to snow on top of Mt evans and also on the beartooth. So somewhere along that trip this pic was taken and at that time I wasn't wearing my full gear.
Normally, when riding on day rides, I will wear my leather jacket, leather pants, steel toe riding boots, leather gauntlets, helmet, goggles. Normally. usually.
