...or where crap is flying up, little rocks, little sticks, big bugs....
LOL... I got nailed in the shin with what I assumed was a rock until I found I had to clean the bug guts off my chaps. Hurt like a SOB...I can't imagine how it would have felt without chaps...
I bought chaps because it was getting into the 40s and the wind goes right through my jeans and the thermals I have under the jeans. So much warmer with no wind coming through the leather. I don't wear them for the protection. If I wanted to protect I'd get armored clothes like someone already mentioned.
COLD, nothing i hate worse than uncontrolled shivers while going down the highway, legs and back cold, then you dip into those low spots between the hills and the temp drops drastically and you find yourself going faster so you can get to the top of the next hill where it feels better...Cold, chaps and jacket has made 100% difference, i dont care if it looks cool or gay, im trying to enjoy the ride, not the other way around.
I think chaps look great on the ladies. They make men look like a bunch of fruity.........
I agree,I tried on a pair of chaps but my oversized genitals attacted unwanted attention from the clerks in the shop(both male&female)and my girlfriend said "if you buy those you are only allowed to wear them at home",so I bought them to use as lounging pants.

Totally agree. Most gear has a real purpose besides whatever fashion statement it may have. Riding on a clear, crisp fall day is great, but you better have your leathers, including chaps or you'll freeze. Even in summer, when the sun goes down so does the temperature.
