Leather even lined is probably the worst choice in cool or cold weather. Leather is for warmer weather, looks and protection only. I have a parka from LLbean thats rated to -40F and only weighs a couple pounds thats wind proof. You really don't need a jacket with a built in heater. I remember going 80 mph on an old Arctic Cat sled at temperatures near zero and not getting cold at all in snowmobile gear. I think when the average temperature drops below 50 that i'll park it and get the 4 x 4 out. Have to wait and see what my cold tolerance is this year
i think he wants a jacket for the spring and fall.
i also have to disagree with you about leather. i wear a schott 118 jacket and with a hoodie underneath i ride into december in upstate NY. it's heavy and cuts the wind completely. you do need something underneath like a flannel or hooide once the weather hits the 40's though.
Try a military field jacket, you can use it with or without the liner. When it gets really cold I wear it over my leather jacket for even more protection against the cold. I have been using one for decades.
Used to be the field jacket was a bikers coat of choice. Damn, I feel old...........
i ride every day. i have 50k miles in two years. i ride. i dont need my clothes to trumpet my hobby.
i have an old brown work shirt that i use during summer. its boring, drab, and doesn't associate me with any group. it works great in the morning when temps are cool, and i can roll the sleeves for the ride home. when i'm walking around walmart i don't look like a tourmaster, power-ranger, or leather fetishist.
i have my dorksuit for cold weather. i'm immediately recognized as a moron when i wear it. but in freezing weather: whatever
my spring/fall ensemble just needs a little tweaking is all.
Suggestion: when you're walking around Wal-Mart, buy a jacket.

I'd rather look like a dork and be warm and laugh at all the high fashioned people with frost bite. I worked outside for many years i learned how to stay warm lol.. Fleece is good under anything. I haven't found anything warmer. I wear Fleece sweatshirts all winter long. Just thought.
On a side note if i was driving in below 20 degrees i would be wearing my Rugged Ridge Parka if i didn't have a snowmobile jacket. All this talk about plug in heated suits makes me laugh. Good gear doesn't require a plug the body heats us just fine in proper gear. It amazes me how many people still wear gloves in winter when mittens are far superior in every aspect. Woot Dork with mittens here!
