When I was looking for an offroad vehicle, my first posts on those forums were the pros and cons of each to see what was said. I ended up buying a Jeep and never regretted it.

That said - I started off on metrics. Honda CB750, then a Kawi Voyager XII. I LOVED the Kawi, but after I totaled it, I expanded my horizons and tried a Harley. I instantly fell in love and have never regretted the several Harleys that I've owned. I will Never go back to metric.

You don't need to defend anything.

I have never had a Harley rider try to tell me why he did not buy a metric. But for some reason a lot of metric owners seem to want to tell me why they did not buy a Harley.

I think the metric bikes are fine and do run good, but I just don't like the looks, feel and sound of a metric. Plastic chrome is not cool for me, I just hate the way they sound and like was said, there is just a feeling you get when on an HD that no other bike can give you, I don't care if it's a Sporty or an ultra-HD is awesome! I have had many metric sport and dirt bikes and all have been great, but when it comes to a cruiser bike I never wanted anything, but an HD and now I have 2 and love them both. Metric guys will always come up with many reasons for not buying an HD, but HD guys never have to give a reason for buying an HD.

Value alone is enough to buy harley. Look at the re-sale value of a Harley vs. metrics. Not to mention the "Harley Family" you get along with the bike. I have to admit I looked at a couple of metrics, and even a Victory, but in the end it was a no-brainer.
Harley Wins Hands down for Me.
