ok kids, let's play nice now. if i had a dollar for every trailer bashing thread on here i'd be able to retire. wait, I am retired, forgot..sorry. care to hear my take on this? cool, here it is.
sit back for just a minute and consider this - everyone is different and has different needs and varied lifestyles. for anyone (yes anyone) to have such a closed mind about such trivial issues is pretty sad. you don't know me and I don't know you. for those of you saying "i would never", take just a minute and think this statement through. what if you were fortunate enough to own your own motorcycle accessories company and needed to go to all major events with your wares and your bike(s)? what if you were relocating thousands of miles away and had more than one bike? what if, like many others on here, you had a family and were going on a vacation and wanted your bike along for an occasional ride?
to make such statements using "never" "always" "forever" etc, often times comes back to bite you.
I could easily state that anyone riding a motorcycle with a windshield (wimpshield) isn't a biker but i know better than that. it would sound just as foolish as all of these threads where so many state that I would "never" trailer my bike.
forums are a great way to learn many things and obviously, many members like to comment about all sorts of topics. topics such as this are simply entertaining at best, but anyone who truly believes that a "real biker" (just what the hell is a real biker anyway?) would never utilize a trailer for convenience or any other reason that helps them out, is a foolish individual.
I saw a trailer on craigslist that a guy had fixed up,it was a simple 6' x 12' enclosed trailer that he had put lights, power vents, carpet, electrical outlets, screen door, etc. with a removable chock to haul his bike.A poor mans toy hauler! Just pull into a campground, roll the bike out and set up the cot,a helluva lot better than a tent. I bet a guy could find a used trailer and fix it up like he did for $1800 or less total investment. It wouldn't weigh that much either, less than 3,000 lbs. with a bike inside. You could tow that with a compact.
I agree with JB, went to the keys last year towed the bikes. We were dry, ate when we wanted, had a good nights sleep and when we got to the keys we were well rested and enjoyed riding throughout the keys. It also allowed more time in the keys due to bad weather on the way down we just kept driving thru the rain and were dry and did not need to stop.
I live in Pennsylvania and will not think twice about towing the bikes to Florida to enjoy the weather down there.
It doesnt bother me if you tow or ride, Just my thoughts.

I have friends that have trailers, I can understand why. For me the juice is the journey. That is the romance of it for me, to make or break it, no matter the conditions.
I have not pulled as many miles, or done as many rallies as people with their traliers, it is their choice. I have no beef wiith anybody that wants to tralier and frankly do not care, but to be honest, it always struck me odd to see bikes on trailers. Yeh I'm sure there is a reason for it and so be it if there is. I'll do my thing and they will do there thing, their decision will not harm or affect me in the most.
What is up with all these self proclaimed "bikers" putting their bikes on trailers to go to bike weeks? BIKE WEEK not trailer week!!!
What I'm ranting about right now isn't about some long or even out of state bike week. I'm ranting about "bikers" in South Florida trailering to Leesburg!!! WTF???
Why do you care? The way I see it, they have their own reasons for doing something and it's none of my damn business. Why are some people on this forum so concerned about what the other guy is wearing or riding or towing??

trailering a bike is for AMA members with stock pipes and HOG members...and if you ride a trike or sidecar you are not a biker either. if you cannot ride your 2 wheel motorcycle to a rally, stay at home. don't want to hear any crap about not enough time or needing to sleep in your RV. if you can no longer hold a bike on 2 wheels up, stay at home...or use your goodsam membership to get a choice camp ground spot.
Who really cares how they get there bikes to where ever they are going. I have both rode the bike long distance and trailered it. Lot depends on the plans and if the wife is coming as she doesnt like long rides. Worry about how you get there not how I or any other BIKER gets there. Just ride your freaking motorcycle.

If I was going to these events trailering is just fine as far as I am concerned. Have to drop the 3 dogs and 3 cats off to stay with some family memeber o the way -lol..
I like sleeping in my trailer. A/C, semi soft bed, dry, only two legged critters[no scorpions or snakes]. No motel/hotel with bed bugs. A clean bathroom. My own good food at a reasonable cost. Hell, I am just spoiled because I want to be. Done it the other way for lots of years. Wet clothes, wet tent, hot tent, sweating my *** off in the tent, snakes and scorpions. Bad food and nasty bathrooms. Motels/hotels I wouldn't feel right leaving my ex-wives in. It is not that I can't ride the bike---it is the bike can't tow the trailer.
