Smile Would like to hear from Middle Georgia Folks

Let me try this again..........

Let's ALL try to put our heads together to share ideas and to start the ball rolling to have a GA Crew get together. A rally, if you will.

To be fair, to be inclusive, and to be able to extend invitations to folks outside of Georgia, I am currently thinking we should plan for a weekend get together in the Macon Georgia area.

I (personally) haven't moved my scoot around this area too much so I really need some friendly feedback from folks who ride this area. Where can we go, what are some neat things to do, what type of outing do you do?

Dates and places are totally flexible right now, but thinking pre-Memorial Day to get better pricing for a block of rooms somewhere.

Although some of us are modeling broad-stroke plans in a similar nature to the annual FL Crew Rally in Ocala, certainly there are no rules against doing something completely different for OUR GA Crew rally.

I beg for feedback from EVERYONE, even from some of our FL Crew brothers who explore all over the southeast. If you are one of those GA Crew Lurkers on here..... now is a perfect opportunity to say hello and to give us some input for our first annual gathering.

Thanks ahead of time for your support!

Hmmmm, trying to think Paul, I know very little about the Macon area. Did a google search on it, not alot came up. We really do need some folks from the area there to chime in with some ideas! Cmon folks,, jump in here & help us out! Trying to make this thing easier to access for everyone. Karen & Todd may know of some good riding down that way?

Let me jump in here if I may.......there is a motorcycle museum in Juliette just north of Macon and that is also where "Fried Green Tomatoes" was filmed. We can always visit the "Big House" in Macon, museum for the Allman Bros. Band. Andersonville would be an interesting ride, the Nation POW Museum http://www.maconcountyga.org/aville.html, and stop and have lunch at Yoder's in Montezuma, GA. http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Over...spx?RefID=1769
"Almost" a day trip to Savannah!!

That's just a few I could up with real quick.

Don't leave out the National Infantry Museum or Naval Civil War Museum in Columbus. Kolomoki Indian Mounds in Blakely. I got a ton of them for Macon and south. Ride the area a lot. I should probably be charged Ga state tax I am there so much!

Keep em coming Ben & Wade!!!! Great ideas!

Wasn't there a killer BBQ place just north of Cordele somewhere? I forget now who was telling me about that place.

Not discounting N. Georgia Mountains, but I figure we could include more folks if we make an effort for something to the South. Macon, the city itself, is a general place-holder for where to try for a Rally gathering. Anywhere through there, or even to the south more is fine with me for ground zero.

I'm really hoping for some enthusiasm from our middle brothers & sisters over the next couple of weeks.

Obviously speaking just for myself, I would prefer a more northern rally just to be able to ride the hills and twisties. South/central Georgia is some wonderful riding country, and I ride there most every weekend and enjoy every mile.

Awesome people, nice roads, a lot of neat destinations, very pretty country..... BUT..... South/central Ga is very, very similar to the riding in Florida from Ocala north. Lots of flat land and straight roads.

That being said, I do understand the need to find a location that maximizes the turnout! How far north of Macon do you need to ride to get into some of the roads that aren't as straight? Is it possible to do day-trips out of Macon to some of those?

Mainly just thinking out loud? Thoughts?

Default Juliette

I went to Juliette on a ride with my "Hells Grannies" group and the Whistle Stop Cafe is there. It looks exactly like the one in the movie and the food is AWESOME -- fried green tomatoes and all! I highly recommend it.

I forgot about the Whistle Stop, that place gets crowded quick ha ha.

I was reading about a resturant on a river about 45min to an hour out of Savannah coming up this way that was a neat destination. I doubt I could find it again but I am sure someone from S. GA would know what I am talking about. If I find, I will post.

I use to travel south ga and that is how I know about these places. I think the riding down there would be great. I spent 3 nights a week for 3 1/2 years in Albany, love the area, didn't care for the nats.

Mountain riding would be pretty far north of Macon and there's not much between Macon and Atlanta but a lot of traffic. Madison, GA and a stop at the Ritz on Lake Oconee would be a good day trip out of Macon.
