Oh you mean like the FACT that the NHTSA has had it out for bikers through all administrations and both parties since the early 70's? Like pushing for national helmet laws through the Nixon and Ford administrations? Don't let the FACTS get in the way of your little anti-Obama rant, though.

This is a link to contact Georgia Governor Nathan Deal. It doesn't take a novel explaining your point, simply state that these motorcycle only checkpoints are Profiling and prejudicial. Also mention how DOT helmets aren't even required in the state of Georgia and you will not be spending any money in Georgia because of these checkpoints.

Don't be a bystander, just remember you state is probably next!

Thanks for the link I shot him an email and let him know just that and that I will be telling everyone I come in contact with about the issue. Money talks and bullshit walks.

Done! Thanks for the link. Now let's hope there's enough people (re: bikers) who'll actually get off their azzes and write the ****-stain an letter!

I'm of the opinion though that too many are 'afraid', 'too lazy' or of the mindset of 'I haven't broken any laws, so I guess it's okay so long as I'm not stopped for too long' (the 'pffft! I can handle a little loss of our freedoms so long as I'm not bothered too much by it' crowd).

It'd be nice to know more ABATE and AMA and others are going to sue Georgia and the feds for *this* crap too, not just the NYC time.

real simple if everyone took care of them selves and obeyed the law and use common sense there would be no reason or probale cause. All of this crap is brought on by a few A$$ Holes that just don't think or have anything to loose if they do not follow the law.

What cloud are you living on?

Doesn't matter if you are 100% legal, if you are on a motorcycle you're getting stopped. The stop is what defines this issue. The Supreme Court has ruled that safety/insurance/drunk/whatever checkpoints are legal as long as everyone is stopped and there are essentially no other reasons behind the stop. That would place a motorcycle-only stop outside the guidelines the Court has laid down.

There is a case in New York that is going through the courts as we write this drivel. New York may have shot themselves in the foot by flapping their gums and apparently stating that one purpose of the stops was to do more than a simple safety check. In one instance the NY LEOs herded bikes into an enclosure while they went through their shakedown process. Appears some bikes were held up much longer than the law generally allows in these type things.

Bull. That dog doesn't hunt. Same excuse for every intrusion into our lives. It is always stated that this is for our own good or the bad apples brought this on. I didn't believe it as a child and I certainly don't believe it as an adult.

Just another waste of monies better spent on improving the roads we ride on. Legislation for the safety of us is BS. This *** in New Jersey wants a fed law for helmets and he never rode. Waste of time for Georgia and New York but a few lawyers and politicians will pad the old back pocket either way. As for one minute stop. Whathappens when I tell them I'm armed and legal. Some ****

This is one of those times I am ashamed to say I have lived in Georgia all my life. Singling out bikers is just another crock of **** revenue maker for this state, just as the Super-Speeder law is.

Me and my bike, or me and any of my other vehicles are legal to the fullest extent of the law. What pisses me off is I see, on a daily basis, people driving POS vehicles all over the place around here. Bald tires, parts falling off, brake lights or turn signals don't work, leaking oil all over the road... WTF? Why can't they pull those bastards over? Don't even get me started on the damn idiots yapping on a cell phone and driving!

How about the dumb asses around where I live that pull a trailer loaded with a 10k# + tractor and a 1/2 ton pickup doing the pulling. No brakes, lights or safety chains on the trailer. Truck bumper almost dragging the ground...

Sorry for the rant, **** like this burns me up!
