Proudly Proclaimed on the Front Page of the Texas Confederation of Clubs' Website:

DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF CLOTHING OR CLUB MEMBERSHIP IS ILLEGAL

Article L Section 8, of the Texas Constitution guarantees the right to everyone in Texas of freedom of speech, expression, and association. Unlike the First Amendment of the United States Constitution which only protects against the government depriving a citizen of speech, expression, or association, the Texas Free Speech provision prohibits anyone, public or private, from depriving a citizen of his or her right to freedom of speech, expression, or association. Hajek v. Bill Mowbray Motors Inc, 647 S.W.2d 253, decided by the Texas Supreme Court in 1983.

Is there anyone here who does NOT understand this?

Maybe I am confused, but what do quoted Sections of the Texas Constitution have to do with the topic "Banned In FL"?

Texas is Texas, Florida is Florida....

Kiltemon,

What my beliefs are of no importance to this entire thread......what is important is the following.

The State Captain if they so chose to do so was tasked by National to approach their local CoC and get the PGR Backpatch approved.

Some State Captains chose NOT to do so, and for that reason, the Backpatch has Not been approved by the CoC. In some other states, the Backpatch was approved with certain restrictions. Finally, there were some states who approached the CoC and the approval was Not given.

Bottom line, what each of us believe really makes no difference in this case. What each of us chose to do does.

If and individual, knowing the Backpatch has Not been approved, and decides that the rules don't apply to them, they should realize the consequences, not only for themselves, but for OTHERS. It is the OTHERS who I am most concerned about, as they could be put in a position which THEY didn't ask for.

Now we have discussed this for weeks now, and each of us hold our own beliefs as to this subject. I do not want to delete this thread, as I believe the information contained would be very helpful to any new members to view, and they then can draw their own conclusions to form their beliefs on the subject.

However, I would like this discussion to end, as it is NOT going to change PGR Policy. So I ask the following.

PLEASE END THIS DISCUSSION. IF ANY MORE POSTS ARE MADE AFTER THIS ONE, IT WILL BE NECESSARY FOR ME TO REMOVE THIS ENTIRE THREAD.

Thank-you all for your participation in this thread and stating YOUR beliefs.

Respects,
Ed

"Maybe I am confused, but what do quoted Sections of the Texas Constitution have to do with the topic "Banned In FL"?"

Old Fender Guy,

I posted that, as it reflects the "rights" that almost every COC site I've run accross proudly purports to be at the heart of its' beliefs... freedom of speech and expression. The fact that the Texas COC promulgated this law exhibits the importance they place in the act.

The Florida COC (since you "asked"), proudly displays, on their site, the Mongols' winning of the right to wear their colors. Florida has (three or four, IIRC) Regional COC's. The "Right" or "Freedom" of speech, expression, AND association, including the right to display those freedoms through dress and emblems is a common element of the majority of COC declarations of purpose.

I had intended to include a few citations from other COC's but felt it would be redundant.

The vast majority of COC's have similar statements in thier declarations of purpose. Yet the public declarations and personae are substancially different from that which we are actually experiencing via Oklahoma, Florida, and some of the members on HDF.

I just posted a confimation to Ed in a PM, as I was typing while he was posting. I really do agree with his decision as the topic has gone far beyond the original purpose of the thread. Please comply with that decision. It's a matter of respect and decorum.

I figured that's what happen (I also take 15 minutes to type out a post). I think it's time we all had a group hug anyway.

Yep,

Just to clear the air.....Kiltiemon did send me a PM with an explanation. I was going to post something up, but when the Ole Lady says it's time to put on the feed bag, well I do have my priorities.

Now lets leave sleeping dogs lie, and let other's learn from everyone's contribution.

Respects,
Ed

I think both this one and the one about Oklahoma have run it's course. Personally, I wish you'd lock them. That way the info is there, but the issue won't keep getting dragged thru the mud.
