If the 2014 SE slip-ons are like my 2012s, you can cut out the plug that routes the exhaust through the muffler making it a straight through flow. It's not loud, but sounds much better than stock. As mentioned, you could remove your cat for a little more volume and heat reduction first. If that' not enough, then cut out the plugs with a dremmel. It's fairly easy to do. My SE slip-ons seemed to get a little louder as I put more miles on them. That's why (I think) it's best to take the incremental approach to reach the tone you want.
The 2009 and up SE slipons are compliant with a cat. I installed a set of the 2009+ Slash downs on an 08 w/out cat and get compliments everywhere I go. Nice deep rumble and settles down at steady speed. HD sold a set that were compliant for an 08 but those were designed for no cat and more restrictive.
SE slip ons were already flow through, no cutting of anything, just removed the very heavy baffle covering and just but it back together. Cost $1 for torx wrench to remove metal baffle. Sounds great and kept the cat for Cali.
..there have been over 30 versions of screaming eagle slip ons- and they vary greatly from kerker to supertrapp disk system to other styles of baffling/core etc etc
simply opening up the muffler can slow the velocity of the exhaust gasses, not great for performance.
I did this same exhaust mod on my 98 RK with Kerker exhaust. Just took out the baffle, took off the packing, put the baffle back in. Still a straight through pipe without the sound deadening material. No problems for 16yrs and carburated at that. I'm sure a new fi model will have no problemsl. Thanks for your concern.
no problem for 16 years, just not optimal for performance.
with your approach, the exhaust gasses go from a 1.75" to a typical 2" core, then a 4" diameter muffler- the gasses will slow to about 1/6th speed, eddy and may reverse direction.
it won't break your bike, but it may result in lost power esp at lower rpm ranges.
