I have the opportunity to pick up a new '14 RK....black, no options for a pretty good price.
I currently have ABS on my Heritage..although I have never had to use it, luckily. The question is: How important is ABS on a bike (and I guess the linked brakes that come with it)?
i had ABS on my 2011 SG, chose to go without it on my RG, it worked well but i could not get comfortable with it when had to use it. feel much better without it. have had to lock them up a few times on both bikes. strictly a prefrence thing for me. my abs light always randomly came on since the bike was new. harley couldnt find a problem, just annoyed me
I would not let something like ABS be the decieding factor. Buy the bike or don't buy the bike because you like the whole package. And just for the record, my ABS has saved my sorry but twice, and almost killed my a$$ probably a dozen times.
Had an 06 RKC with now ABS and I'd locked up the rear brake a few times when having to hard brake for some reason. Back tire slid out when that happened. Loved the bike, but ABS was a definite plus when choosing to trade her in on a 14 Ultra Limited.
I've had ABS on all my motorcycles since I first had it on a ultra limited (best touring bike ever). I've used it a few times especially the rear. Get the Road King but get it the way you want it. It is a lot money either way so you might as well get it the way you want it because the money you save won't matter in the long run. Good luck dude
