Wink Shout out to LRS for the elite recurve

Just a quick note to thank Long Ride Shields for the excellent elite 20" recurve. I had the stock 20 inch on my bike, and gave it a lot of thought. I was looking at other shields, and thought that maybe because of my height that a 22 might be in order, which LRS doesn't make. After reading the threads and seeing where the shield came up to, I decided that the 20 might do it.

So, I went ahead and ordered it, using the forums discount code, and the final price was just under $140.00 with shipping. Not bad for a tinted recurve, in fact, cheaper than the Harley replacement.

When I got it, I matched it up to the old windshield, and saw that it would work, so I went ahead and mounted it. It looks good enough, I think to myself, and I take it for a ride around the block. At neighborhood speeds, it really seems to work well, but then, I say OK, let me take it up on the expressway and get it up to speed.

First thing I notice is, no noise in my ears at all. Just like I'm standing still. I'm like, really, so I push it up a bit more. Nope, the way it is. I am surprised. Of course, this was with the wind at my back. So I pull a u-turn, and head into the wind. OK, now I am seeing it a little better. The wind is whipping pretty good now, but the front end is stable, not bouncing all over like it used to. Even though there is slight turbulence, there is still no wind roar in my ears. Now, I am pretty tall, close to 6'4" , and can see over this thing no problem. And I am getting the occasional gust, but nothing like the stocker. The thing is, the front end is now planted instead of hopping all around. I also have the walrus teeth and the triple tree deflector mounted, and I guess it just works pretty well with those.

If it wasn't for the 80% chance of rain for tonight, I am certain I'd be heading out right now for more testing. As it stands, I guess I am looking at tomorrow morning for more 'testing".

Have two, 18" elite on the Road King, 7" on the batwing. Now if they could just design a windshield that shed bugs as well as it sheds the wind.
