I purchase a PCIII and install. The people i bought it from says - If you unhook the o2 cencers you get more power. If you hook them up you get fuel conservation. So i try power first. Sounds good. A little hesitation starting & i noticed my fuel millage went from 198 miles a tank to 153 miles a tank. I lost 40 miles pr tank . Is this normal ?
I really cant tell the differance in power to that degree that it would justify a gal loss. It dont seem to be running rich and it dont spit. Just a slow start.
Is this normal for a PCIII ?
First the only good reason to install a PCIII is to correct the fuel mixture once you add aftermaket exhaust and air cleaners. If it was tuned right you would have no hesitation or other adverse effects and would have a increase in power which always comes with a decrease in fuel milage on efi harleys. I suggest you remove it if you havent done other upgrades or take it to a dynojet tuning center and get it tuned to your bike.
I have 2 bikes with PC111s.
One is a higly modified 95" well over 100/100 and easily gets 45mpg if I take it easy.
The other is an 07 Stage 1 that get over 40 and expect better now that is tuned and has more miles.
