Default Wild 1's 578 or LA Choppers twin peaks 10"

Narrowed down my choice on new bars to these two,,, I think. Going on a 13 SG and want my hands out of the wind, so 10" is as high as I will go. Like the looks of the Twin Peaks and that they are 2.5 inches narrower than the 578. With the 578 being wider, in some pics it looks like the ends are out past the fairing. Maybe an illusion from camera angle. Have not had the opportunity to sit on a bike with either installed or even seen bikes in person with them installed so looking for pros and cons from owners on these bars. Don't have much time to decide since the my bike is in getting repaired from a deer hit and they need to know fairly soon.

Kinda a thread-jack, but...

I'm thinking about the LA Choppers 10s myself. Anyone have pics of those bars, AND the stock bars in a side-by-side comparison? (I'm on an '09 EGS myself.)

I literally! just got finished installing the 578 on my 13 SG rode today for the first time. The bars will be just ontop of the fairing speaker pods. I rode today for the first time and I can see they are going to take some getting used to. I have to readjust them being they are to far forward and I dont have good control in slow tight turns.

Side note when you do them. +4 clutch and brake and wire extensions. You read on here that you dont need them, but it make it a hell of a lot easier. I used Magnium Shielding brake and clutch cables and Namz wire extensions.

You will see if you use Magnum Cables that it tells you to remove a roll pin under the triple tree, but doesnt say how and the service maual dosent really say how. If you dont have any, get you a pair of vice grips and just work it out. It will come right out.

I also suggest getting to tool to remove the pins from the connector, makes the job so much easier than fooling around with a paperclip.

My father was a mechanic for years and he has basically every tool you could possibly need. However, he did not have an offset wrenches. Get you a set of offset wrenches. You will need it when adjusting the clutch. I dont remember the size. I want to say 11/16, but dont take my word. If you have a Sears near you, they sell a kit that has all the major sizes including the size that you will need.

One last thing, SERVICE MANUAL! You will be suprised how often you really use it.

Take your time, take good notes and enjoy it. Its fun until it drags on and probles arise haha.

If you want your hands out of the wind you better not go with either set.The 575's will keep them out of the wind.

Actually had been contemplating bars for quite some time before the wreck. while going down the road I could hold my hands above the grips on the stock bars about 3-4 inches before the major blast of wind would hit. I'm after comfort first in wrist position, height and pullback as well as wind protection. So these bars from these two manufacturers seems to fit the bill. But open to suggestions and pics of others.

Another thing to keep in mind with wether your hand will be out of the wind. Depending on how/where you adjust the bars determines how much your hands are exposed to the elements. I actually dropped the bars down today and my hands arent exposed to the elements as much now and I have more control. So far they feel much better. Me personally bars are one of them things, you kinda have to find what you like/think you will like and pull the trigger and hope its all what you expected. There are so many options that its near impossible to really find what youre looking for by looking at pictures and you cant go sit on a bike and find what you like because you dont know what particular bars that bike has on plus how they are adjusted.

You have some companies say their bars are 10in and you go look at another company who say their bars are 12in and between the two, they look the same. Then you have pull back and wrist angle.

take pics of the wire harnesses before you unpin anything! an unpinning tool isnt a must but it will make it so much easier. i have the w0578's. they sit right at the windshield line pushed all the way forward. i would recommend changing the bar clamp bushings out with the poly ones. i didnt but i will be this winter.
