Default Choppy/jerky front brake.

I just bought a used 2012 RGU with 18K miles, i didn't notice this during the test ride, but as I got home I notice that while i am about to stop, last ten yards or so, the front brake becomes choppy to the point that is difgicult keeping the wheel straight upon stop. Anything i can check before taking it back to the dealer?(is 600 miles away)

Sounds like you have a wrapped rotor. It's prob going to need to be replaced. They should have caught it when they prepped the bike for sale. That's a long ride for a rotor though...you may just want to eat the price and do it yourself

........and not be on the front brake under 10 mph as eventually it will take you down like a magnet. Transfer to rear brake at low/slow speed

Warped front rotor from getting way hot from over-use of front brake.

What? Lol! Define over use. Rubbish. It's because of sh1tty stock rotors.

Riding the front brake, and only using the front brake causes it to overheat and warp.

If it wasn't, they would all warp.

I've never had a warped rotor.

Those that have "issues" and blame the product, usually abuse the product.

Not sure what the specs are, but I've had warped rotors that did the same thing as the OP describes...took it into the dealer, and yes, they were warped, but still within acceptable specs and were NOT changed out.

70% of your braking comes from the front. This is from people that know what they're talking about - Riders Edge courses, ride like a pro, etc.

My front and rears are warped. Am I riding both too much?

I say again - stock rotors suck.

On my 09 FLHTCU, I replaced the front rotors 6 times over 100,000 miles due to warping. The originals warped at 4500 miles. I could get 30K out of the brake pads but the rotors would be warped well before 10K. Fortunately ESP covered the rotors. One thing about the 14 FLHTK is that it has redesigned full floating rotors and so far they are still straight at 29K. I never warped a rotor on my 94 FLHTP or 02 FLHTCUI over a combined 200K. My personal opinion is that the 09 rotors were garbage.
