Default 2015 103 in 2009-2011

Do y'all know if a 103 from a 2015 Road Glide would be a direct swap with no modification into the following?

1. 2009 - 2011 road glide with a 96
2. 2011 road glide with a 103

The castings on the engine haven't changed since '06 when the new Dyna was introduced. It should bolt right up. I could see wanting to replace a 96" with a new 103", but I don't see the advantage in the '11 103" replacement unless the engine in the '11 is worn out. Some will say that you are not doing yourself any favors here, but yes it will fit and bolt-up.

unless your 96" is toasted, I wouldn't waste my time/$ with this upgrade. Just get a 106/107 big bore kit and smoke all those 103s.

I am trying to decide between a few bike options and have the motor.

the first option is a 2009 (w 96ci) and the second is a 2011 with nearly 100k miles - which is where the new motor comes into the picture.

Any other advice / comments on the swap?

frames are the same
transmissions are the same
it will drop right in on either 09 or 11

I wouldn't buy a bike with 100k miles on it unless the price was RIDICULOUSLY good as you know you're going to spend $ on that one for sure.

We were on the Trail of Tears ride and there was a couple on a new 103 with liquid cooling.
I was very impressed with it's performance. It gave my 110 a fit, could not shake him for crap.
I have no clue if he had done any engine work or not. Could not find them when we stopped in Bridgeport, al.

What would you consider a "RIDICULOUSLY" good price?

I have a 09 RG with 99K & I know I won't sell it for a ridiculously low price, so I guess I'll just put another 100K on it. I would say it should be discounted $3-5K from a average bike, depending on condition. You've already got the engine, that's the most expensive single part, have the trans checked out & the wheel bearings. The one good thing is most people who ride that many miles take ridiculously good care of their bikes, if you can do a lot of your own work it could be a great deal.

According to NADA low retail is $13,860. I don't know the condition of the bike you are looking at, but one thing to consider is it will always be a 100K+ bike. If it has been taken care of and has been serviced regularly a 3 yr old 100K bike is better than a 10 yr old 40K bike just because things aren't wearing out just from age. If it is in great cosmetic shape I wouldn't pay more than low retail, if it isn't in good shape the price would go down from there.

Is 10k range a good deal or overpaying in your opinion?

Body work has scratches which I am OK with because I want custom paint anyway.

I have family in the body shop business.
