Default $500 limit set, ideas for upgrades

Hey all,

Just recently (4 months ago) upgraded to a Street glide. 2006, 88CI, 4,4xx miles. Has true dual Rinehart exhaust, with a PC3 tuner. Original owner states the speakers were all upgraded too, not sure though since I'm new to the touring bikes.

I am looking to do some mods since riding season is coming to an end here, damn winter. I just recently made another post regarding 10" bars since the stockers are uncomfortable.

Outside of changing the bars, what would you guys recommend, upgrade wise? My mind is set on bars, not sure which yet, but that's being discussed in the other thread.

Ideas please? Thanks all

You can eat the $500 just in bars but if the $500 is in addition then you can always look at cams for your next power upgrade. If you don't want to go that route just buy whatever you want to change for looks or possibly a new seat for comfort.

Actually forgot to mention that, I have a seat that came with the bike which I'm not a fan of. Only use it for long rides, the stocker is nice and low profile for me compared to this other one. Also have a quick detach setup, with a tour pak, and a sissy bar, nice to have the options I suppose.

Post a couple of pixs. Then we can get an idea on what your working with. Are you planning on riding many 600 mile days? How comfortable is the seat? I'd decide on the seat first then decide the bars. Got hiway pegs? How about a riders backrest?

+1 on the cam upgrade. The 88 is a good motor, but you will appreciate the bump in torque and horsepower that a good cam will provide (this is especially true on a heavy touring bike).

It will make the bike much more fun to ride.

By all means change your bars (although I am not convinced about apes), but put the rest away for now. You will be much better able to decide what to spend it on after a while in the saddle.

$500? I'd be going to swap meets and the like, cruising for used parts I wanted to make the bike fit me more comfortably. I like finding good used parts for pennies on the dollar.

At 3.50 /gal that's 142.8 gallons of gas! OR 5 nights in cheap motels and 77 gallons of gas... OR 5 nights, an oil change and 57 gallons of gas OR... See where I'm headed with this?

Happy motoring!

$500.00 is not much these days. Saw a nice leather jacket today at the Harley dealer, $530.00 before tax. Told the girl I might be back. The cleavage was free though!

Do the bars. I wish I'd con 14", but the 10s were a HUGE improvement and I didn't need to buy any cables.
