There are no mods done to the 14. And I don't want a road king.

Here is my thought on the deal. My 08 KBB trade in is $10,800.00. Retail is around $14500.00
The 14 with two tone paint is $26939.00 add tax at $1800.00 and setup license about $700.00?
2014 $29439.00 out the door.
$29439.00 - $17000.00 = $12439 trade for my 08.

I think I will offer them $16000.00 + trade....what say u on that deal?????

theres 10 ways to look at that, Id say you are doing fine! It can be a hassle selling a used bike and everyone wants part of the difference your saving by selling private. Just bought a slightly used suv, looked for months and months finally I just went to the dealer and yes paid a few dollars more but was not happy with dealing with all the potential sellers I met and they knew the deal too and wanted close to dealer price plus got a 2 yr warrenty included,,better then none.

Honestly, that's a "deal" you could get anywhere, any time, at this point in the game with the 15's out. MSRP = $26939 - $12439 trade = $14500 difference, then figure the tax. Tax may be less than $1800 if you pay tax on the difference like we do in Missouri. If you pay on the selling price, then that part doesn't matter. Tax will be there regardless if that's what they do in your state. But, if you pay tax only on the difference, they are just sucking up the rest in profit charging you 17k otd.

You can negotiate set up fees; I paid none. If they say they have to charge everyone, then great! Reduce the difference even more by the set up fee amount and knock yourself out showing it on the purchase agreement. My humble opinion says not to go over $13500 diff, then add tax and no set up fees. But if that's the bike you want and can't find it anywhere else, make yourself happy and buy it!

Or, sell yours for as much as you can on your own. Then, buy a slightly used 2014 with 2k miles and 5k worth of add-ons from someone that came out from under the ether... lol

P.s. I spent 30 years on the retail side of the auto industry...

ONLY $29,439 Out the door for that '14 ?

Of course you don't want a RoadKing,you wanted opinions...I don't
think there's anying magical enough about last year's Limited to make it worth as much as a perfectly fine '08 Ultra and a new 2015 RoadKing combined. If you think it's a good deal,do it and ride the crap out of it.

I'm just shocked that anyone is ok with a non-CVO being worth the same as a lightly used 2 yr old Mercedes.

From a Canadian perspective that is a smoking deal. I looked at the same bike up here. My 07 RK and 23000 difference OTD. Still happily riding my RK with 40,000 miles. In your case, If it was me though I would look for a used low mileage 14 after I sold the Ultra.

I think if you want the bike NOW, trading in might be your only option. Winter is almost here.

However, you should push for another $1k-2k off the '14. After all, the '15s are here.

You should easily be able to get $2k off of a leftover 2014 with set-up and freight waived.

$26739

I would offer your trade and $15k. Or sell the Ultra outright. But remember if you buy outright after selling you will be paying tax on the full amount. If you trade it will only be on the difference. Also remember dealerships use NADA and not KBB. Values can fluctuate up or down between the two.
