I just installed a big sucker filter, not running a cover. just left open. My question to you that are running same set up is when washing your bike do you use a rain sock, zip lock bag or anything to cover to keep water out?
I recently switched back to an SE backplate and open filter, much like the big sucker (not in sig pic). I have not been covering mine, but after reading evil things about the TCA conection at the throttle body and unexpected limp mode, I'm going to start covering both with a shower cap.
I use very low water presssure. Basically I get it wet then use a sponge, then rinse. I always ride it until it's hot after washing.
Mine is open and I bag it up when washing the bike. I've been caught in a couple of unexpected downpours and worried about it, even posted it up here, and the consensus was that the water coming though wasn't enough to mess anything up while I am at speed in the rain. I don't ride in the rain by choice, but I haven't had an issue the couple of times that I had to.
