EVO stole my reply, that's what I was gonna say. go for the Ultra, good for two up with intercom and the cruise control is worth it. Removed the lowers yesterday so I will see if I notice a differance in handling.
Lots of good points on this thread. I got the Ultra, and the only thing I don't use on it is the intercom/CB. The extra brake lights are a BIG DEAL for me. It depends somewhat on how you plan to use your bike. I like to do a lot of distance riding, so the extra amenities are appreciated.
I bought the classic...for no other reason except enjoying the style with 2 up riding in comfort. But....as others have said...You can't use what you don't have. Whichever one you decide to buy, you won't be disappointed
Don't much care for the "chopper blue". Too light of blue for my taste. But that is a personal choice.
I have an 06 Ultra I put 20,000 miles on so far and about the only thing I ain't used yet is the CB. But I will get around to it.
The hard lowers can be removed if wanted during hot weather.
I am a bit concerned that it is listed as a stock 05. That means it does not have the newer radio package. So the price of $17,500 seems a bit on the high side.
You can get new 07 Eglide Classics at Milwaukee HD for $16,200 and I think I saw a couple of Ultras for $18,900.
I would probably pass on the 05 and look for an 06 or 07. But that is just me.
I bought the classic and would not change my mind for anything. The extras are not what I desire or use. Do what you think is best. I don't like the idea of riding with all the extras, I simply want to eliminate stuff from my riding. Go for what you want.
First the Chopper Blue and Silver is a good color. You'll like it in person. Secondly Classic is nice but and there is always a but. Go for the Ultra and you will never look back. They call it "ultra" for a reason
If your not going to do the BEST TOURING BIKE Harley Offers the ROAD GLIDE [8D] - Then go for the ULTRA - it will be much cheaper because down the road YOU WILL ADD ALL THE OTHER GOODIES the Ultra already has!
