Ultra has more goodies, cruise, lowers, cb/intercom(useless if riding alone,IMO ) higher output stereo with rear speakers, extra set of rear tail/brake lights(always a plus) even riding alone a ultra is nicer. I dont dig blue but thats just me.
I knew I would not miss the cb/intercom/pack lights&speakers. saved 2500 and installed lowers/cruise for 800(online). Actually like the streamline of classic dash and tour pack. only other thing was the fairing baffles and installed the new adjustable ones(way cooler). Have not looked back but its just me.
I have the Ultra, and wished I would have bought the Classic. I never use the cruise or CB, Intercom, and Pez sells rear speaker kits. For the extra cost i could have bought a set of lowers and upgraded the stereo, and still had a few bucks left over.
I didn't want the lowers, or the CB, and I liked the cleaner tourpak on the classic. Rear speakers would've been cool though. If you ride in cold weather, you might like the lowers.
I bought the Classic and kick my self for not doing the Ultra. I ride 90% of the time alone too. I've manufactured what was needed to move the tour pack solo or 2 up. Tour pack can now be moved via Harley detach stuff. I added the rear speakers and when in solo the tour pack makes my bike feel like a lazyboy with great surround sound. Now I want cruise control.....gee if I had bought the ultra I wouldn't be installing stuff.......oh .....by the way. My tour pack has a total of 8" adjustment and you have to look to find how it was done. Very clean mod. Can go solo or 2 up in less than 5 mins. Is awsome....
There's a resaon for two different models. Myself, I use the extras. Depends on what you'll use in the future, and to me factory installed beats jury rigging aftermarket stuff.
